Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA)
A developmental disability is a severe, chronic disability attributable to a physical or mental impairment (other than the sole diagnosis of mental illness) and is expected to last a lifetime. The widest range of services is available to those individuals who have a documented developmental disability that began before the age of 22. A Resource Coordinator will meet individually with referrals of all ages, to assess each case, and make a determination of service needs and availability.
Types of services include coordination of support, day, and/or residential services for individuals with developmental disabilities, advocating for services in the community and serving as the single point of entry into the state DDA system.
Referrals: Any individual can make a referral for services. Please use the one-page referral form and release of information form and give to the DDA office.
Fees: There is no fee for this service.
Office Hours: The office generally has a staff person on duty between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, who can be reached by the direct line at (410) 376-0024. There may be times when all staff are out of the office at which time the answering maching is available for messages. Should there be an emergency the staff can be reached by cell phone. That number is available through the general Health Department operator at (410) 228-3223. If there is an after hours emergency, assistance can be reached by calling the DDA regional office at (410) 334-6920. Should you need to fax something, you can do so at (410) 901-8197.
