Child and Adolescent Services. Counselors are available at the middle schools and the high schools, where they assist the PAT and SAT teams, complete assessments, assist in interventions, and counsel adolescents, both individually and in groups as needed. The school-based adolescent services focus primarily on “high-risk” students. Two levels of treatment groups (Substance Abuse Group - once a week and; Substance Dependency Group - two times a week) and a Continuing Care group are conducted at our facility. We are primary participants in the Dorchester County Juvenile Drug Court , serving approximately 30 youthful offenders annually. These adolescent clients are referred by the Circuit Court Master through a designated DJS Case Manager. We have implemented full collaboration with Dorchester County Health Department Prevention’s “Creating Lasting Family Connections” best-practices program, serving adolescents in treatment and their parents/caregivers.
