*Medical Assistance provides payment for doctor, helpsital, medicine, and other medical bills. Anyone who receives public assistance payments through the local department of social services is automatically eligible for medical assistance. Other persons may be eligible, according to their level of income, and may applly at the local department of social services or at the Health Department.
**The Food Stamp Program provides food coupons to increase the food purchasing power of low income households. The amount of coupons depends on the number of persons in the households as well as their combined income.
