Want to inform your colleagues quickly about the wonderful happenings and goings on in the Health Department? Well, here is your chance. Our Intranet can be accessed by any employee who has a computer & a phone line!
By utilizing the intranet, you can save yourself A LOT of time and $$$. How you ask? It's simple: Think of the time you will save by NOT typing and copying a memo, putting it in everyone's mailbox to read and then waiting for a reply. By sending me (Karen) an email with the info, I do most of your work for you by adding it to the Intranet. You will save money by NOT having to use paper or the copier. Multiply that by the number of memos you send out every year and you might be surprised by the result!
Also, to help get word out to most of the residents of Dorchester County and to promote your programs, use our website. If you have a particular program you want everyone to know about or have an article about a disease near and dear to your heart, email me (Karen) and I will put it on our website. Remember, our website and the Intranet is only as good as you make it. It doesn't work without you and your input!
If you want to make the Intranet or our website be your homepage, follow these simple steps:
- Go on the Internet and open up our website or our Intranet.
- Go to "Tools" and select "Internet Options".
- Click on "Use current" and that will make either our website or our Intranet your homepage.
If you want to put our website or Intranet on your desktop:
- Go on the Internet and open up our website or our Intranet.
- Go to "File" and select "Send" and select "shortcut to desktop"
- Click on that and it will be added to your desktop.
Or, you can just add it to your "Favorites" list when you are on the internet.
Just to give you a review of the areas of the Intranet, here's the run-down:
Announcements: pretty self-explanatory. Anything you want the employees of the Health Department to be made aware of goes here.
Birthdays: if you want your name and date (NOT THE YEAR) listed, send me an email with the info.
Calendar of Events: You have an event you want to promote (Relay for life, trip, theater, etc.), send the info with the date, time, etc. and I will post it here.
Swap & Shop: You have something to sell, are interested in buying or have a business (legal of course) to promote, list it here.
Policies & Procedures: Any new or old P/P that is important but also that you receive frequent questions about should go here. Think of the time you will save by NOT having to answer the same question over and over again when all the information is listed on the INTRANET!!!
